Believe it or not, you can handle all your day-to-day cleaning with just 7 easily available, inexpensive, environmentally benign substances.
To learn how to use them
When you are Biotarian, you try, to transform your Home and your Health naturally.
Many of the products in our supermarket claiming they are ‘earth friendly’ or ‘green’, still contain harsh detergents. We know there is a better way.
If you choose to bring home products containing a cocktail of synthetic ingredients, did you know the indoor air quality of your home could be more toxic than the outdoor air?
The cumulative effect of synthetic ingredients in laundry detergents, dishwasher powders, floor cleaners, everyday sprays, shampoos, conditioners, moisturisers, candles, make-up, perfumes, air fresheners, deodorants and more, can pollute the air quality in our homes and significantly add to our family's body burden of chemical overload.
Exchange Indoor Air
Many modern homes are so tight there's little new air coming in. Open the windows from time to time or run any installed exhaust fans. In cold weather, the most efficient way to exchange room air is to open the room wide - windows and doors, and let fresh air in quickly for about 5 minutes. The furnishings in the room, and the walls, act as 'heat sinks', and by exchanging air quickly, this heat is retained.
Remove clutter that collects dust, such as old newspapers and magazines. Try to initiate a 'no-shoes-indoors' policy. If you're building or remodelling a home, consider a central vacuum system; this eliminates the fine dust that portable vacuum cleaners recirculate.
Use Gentle Cleaning Products
Of the various commercial home cleaning products, drain cleaners, toilet bowl cleaners and oven cleaners are the most toxic. Use the formulas described above or purchase 'green' commercial alternatives. Avoid products containing ammonia or chlorine, or petroleum-based chemicals; these contribute to respiratory irritation, headaches and other complaints.
What can you do at home ?
When you are Biotarian, protecting the environment also takes place at home. There are lots of little steps that people can take at home to help save the environment.
While the eco-footprint of each step is small, thousands of people doing the same thing can make a difference.
As a Biotarian, in making some small changes to the way that you do things at home, you are gradually making a difference. You will kill costs, improve your health and protect the planet at the same time!
